Have you ever considered adding paper flowers to your client’s event? While fresh flowers are still very much in demand and appreciated by most clients, there isn’t anything wrong with adding other elements to the overall décor for an event. If you’re interested in exploring a recent trend, we’re sharing some advice on when, where, and how to use paper flowers.
First things first: paper flowers are not necessarily a replacement for the real deal. They will look and feel different from natural (or even silk) flowers, and so their purpose will also be different. The fun of paper flowers is not in trying to make them look real, but to add a sense of fun and creativity to the environment. As paper flowers will be much more flexible in terms of design, style, and color, your imagination is really the only limit to how your paper flowers can enhance your décor.
When to Use Them: Events that aren’t as formal can be a really good option for paper décor. Baby showers or children’s events really lend themselves to the fun décor of paper flowers. They can also be used if your client is on a tight budget. While there is still a lot of labor involved, paper will naturally be less expensive than their natural or silk alternatives. If using for a wedding, these should be used to add to or enhance your fresh flowers for an even more lush-looking event.
Where to use them: Technically, anywhere you would use fresh flowers, you could also use paper flowers. Hanging floral arrangements or a paper flower backdrop can really make your client’s event pop. If using as an enhancement to fresh flowers, be sure that your paper counterparts will go well with their real cousins.
Making Paper Flowers: The first part is really in the concept of the design. While paper flowers are not fresh flowers, they should still look like an identifiable kind. Knowing your flowers can help you create paper flowers that mirror their real counterparts. It will also take a lot of practice to create the right look as well as the time to set up enough flowers to make it worth it. Depending on your final vision, it may require many more flowers than you have planned for, so be sure to get some tips and advice before starting your project. You’ll also want to leave enough time to create the entire look you have planned so that you’re not scrambling at the last minute.
